Quasi la metà delle micronazioni - i microstati spesso formati dal solo sovrano e da una manciata di sudditi che autoproclamano l'indipendenza pur senza ottenere il riconoscimento di alcuno status internazionale - del pianeta sono collocate in Australia.
Businessweek ha intervistato il principe Leonard del Principato di Hutt River per indagare su un fenomeno che ha avuto il suo splendore negli anni '70 e una seconda giovinezza con l'avvento di internet.

Hutt River is one of about 30 micro­nations spread across Australia, ranging from the ridiculous-the four people who comprise the Republic of Awesome-to the sincere, like the Principality of Snake Hill north of Sydney that takes itself extremely seriously, even if few others do.

Sarebbe interessante confrontare questi dati con l'accuratezza di Google Maps.

We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. In just over a week, iOS users with the new Maps have already searched for nearly half a billion locations. The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.

While we're improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.

Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.

Si chiama Xtreme Deep Field ed è il risultato di un collage di oltre 2.000 immagini riprese dal telescopio spaziale Hubble nel corso di 10 anni che mostrano 5.500 galassie.
Le galassie sono distanti da noi 13,2 miliardi di anni. Si tratta quindi dell'immagine più in profondità mai realizzata. Appena a 450 milioni di anni dall'origine dell'universo.

Google Street View scende sott'acqua per offrirci splendidi immagini delle profondità marine a 360 gradi della Grande Barriera Corallina al largo dell'Australia.

L'equipaggio della ISS ha fotografato due glorie al largo delle coste della Baja California.
Una gloria è un fenomeno ottico prodotto dalla luce riflessa verso la sua fonte da una nuvola di goccioline d'acqua di dimensioni uniformi.
